Conventions! Empty Conventions!

Post by dragonartist713 April 17th 2011, 10:36 pm

As some of you may know, my recent absence from the forum universe was due to me going to a convention with some of my friends. So as i was running around in No Brand-land, I got to thinking... I should post information about upcoming cons on LoD... so that OTHER people can have awesome fun like this. plus, what good anime forum doesnt have a conventions posting....

And thus, this thread...

If you'd like, i can look for/post cons from other states. these are only the cons that /I/ know about. Just let me know what to include and ill put it up :3

~~~~~~~
No Brand Con - April 15-17 2011 (there's always next year :3 )
http://www.nobrandcon.com/
Eau Claire, Wisconsin
No Brand is an anime and gaming convention. You'll find things like anime rooms for watching anime, a tabletop gaming room for cards and board games, vendor booths to buy cool stuff (pocky, also manga), an artists alley where people come and sell even awesomer stuff that they've made, also videogaming rooms and cosplay. Lots of cosplay. Cosplay contest!
Wausaubicon - July 8-10 2011
http://www.wausaubicon.com/
Wausau, Wisconsin
Wausaubicon is an anime, sci-fi, and gaming con.
Wausaubicon Website wrote:We are a small group that decided to throw a summer family-friendly convention to fill the gap between Anime Central and Geek|Kon. Not only will you be able to do all those things you're dying to do during the convention off-season, such as seeing the anime and other fun videos in the Video Rooms, the Game Rooms (each room featuring a special type of gaming), the multicolored riot of the Cosplay Masquerade, among other things, but we also have unique events like Cosplay Bowling! Ever wanted to go to a bowling alley dressed as your favorite character? Now's the time and the con to do it at!
Geek.Kon - September 9-11 2011
http://www.geekkon.net/
Madison, Wisconsin
What is Geek.Kon? wrote:Geek.Kon is Madison Wisconsin's very own anime convention, sci-fi convention, and gaming convention all rolled into one! As the name implies, Geek.Kon is a place to celebrate all that is geeky from strong foundations in anime, science fiction, video gaming, tabletop gaming, and costuming to up and coming fandoms like steampunk and gothic lolita. This year the convention will be celebrating its 5th year with a combination of attractions from Geek.Kons past and new ones to shape its future. Geek.Kon 2011 will truly live up to the theme "unstuck in time".
Daisho Con - November 18-10 2011
http://www.daishocon.com/
Steven's Point, Wisconsin
Daisho Con is a Central-Wisconsin based anime, gaming, and science-fiction conference. (that is literally all their website had to say...)
World Steam Expo - May 27-30 2011
http://www.worldsteamexpo.com/
Dearborn, Michigan
WSE is a steampunk con. There will be several bands that play (steampunk, of course (Abney Park is one ^^ )) and several other events like a mad science fair and a masquerade ball.
Q: What is steampunk? wrote:A: Steampunk is the science fiction of the steam age, re-imagined with the advantage of modern hindsight. Drawing upon the wealth of historical technology and the scientific fantasies of the Victorian and Edwardian periods, steampunk seeks to reinvent modern wonders such as the computer as the people of the age might have envisioned them. Following in the footsteps of Jules Verne and H. G. Wells, steampunk authors blend history, science and imagination into a world of wonder that might have been.
Kitsune-Kon - March 30-April 1 2012
http://kitsunekon.com/
Appleton, Wisconsin
What does it involve? wrote:Its primary reason for existing is anime! However, we have other fun things that include, but not limited to, cosplay contest, late-night dance, amazing artists, a few amazing guests of honor, and much, much more!
Anime Oasis - May 26-29 2011
http://www.animeoasis.org/
Boise, Idaho
AO Facebook wrote:Anime Oasis is becoming a mid sized anime convention with all the AO-style you love.
Here in Hawai'i we have Kawaii Kon and HEXXP.
There really aren't that many, sadly, and I'm not aware of any other Hawai'i anime conventions other than those two.
