EV Training: Targeting your training by stat Empty EV Training: Targeting your training by stat

Post by Dr. Lodello Hawthorn May 11th 2011, 3:24 pm

There are many pokemon in this fine world of ours. And for the trainer hoping to maximize their pokemon's stat gains through utilizing the EV system, it can be a confusing and daunting task to choose which pokemon they think will give a certain boost in stats. Well, that's why I'm here, isn't it?

I have compiled here a list, several lists, in fact, of pokemon that give points in each of the different stat categories. I'll also give you good areas to hunt while training. This is a long report so I recommend using Ctrl+F for PC or Cmd+F for Mac to find what you're looking for.

A pokemon in the list with a * after its name give multiple types of points. They will be named on both lists so simply search for their name to find which type and how many points they give.

Recommended HP hunting grounds:
If you're still in Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum, Route 221 has several Skuntank and Gastrodon for you to battle. They give 2 base points each.
Bidoof are also quite common on route 201 if you don't mind dodging the occasional starly.

In Black and White, the dream yard is an excellent HP training ground. Munna and Musharna both appear in the ruins and give 1 and 2 points, respectively. Musharna will only appear in the rustling grass, along with Audino which also gives 2 HP points, and once per week in the basement.

Recommended Attack hunting grounds:
Lake Verity in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum is a perfect Attack training ground. Using a super rod, both Seaking and Gyarados are catchable. This guarantees you at least 2 Attack EVs for every encounter initiated this way.

In Black and White, Dragonspiral Tower is my recommendation. Mienfoo and Golett are extremely common and give 1 Attack EV each.

In Black and White, Durant gives 2 points and appears often in victory road, on all floors. Relic Castle is also a good Defense ground, training against Cofagrigus and Yamask for 2 and 1 points, respectively.

In Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, there is a fisherman outside of Eterna City with a team of 6 Magikarp. You are able to challenge him with the VS Seeker as many times as you want for 1 Speed EV per Magikarp.

In Black and White, I would suggest training off the Joltik in Chargestone Cave. They will also give 1 Speed EV each.
